  • The gorgeous lake is where Nainital derives its name from. Set in the centre of the valley or the heart of the city, the lake is home to multiple tourists all year round. With options of boating, both pedal and rowing, as well as yachting, there is something in store for every tourist at this lake.

  • The rowing boats are available for approx. Rs. 160 for half round and Rs. 210 for full round, and the decorative Gondola boat costs approx. Rs. 210 for a round trip of the lake. The lake is open from 6 am to 6 pm every day.

  • The pious temple is thronged by devotees all year round. A major prayer site of Nainital, Naina Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Sati, wife of Lord Shiva. The turquoise blue water graces the temple and it has firmly stood ground on the hillock since 15th century AD. It is believed that the idol inside the temple was installed by Moti Ram Shah in 1842. Despite being hit by a major landslide in 1880, the temple was rebuilt at the very site because of its auspiciousness.

  • Established in 1936, this is India's first national park. It is named after the legendary naturalist and conservationist Jim Corbett. Located at the Himalayas' foothills, near the popular hill-station of Nainital, the beautiful Jim Corbett National Park, is famous for being home to a large number of tigers, the highest among any Indian national park. Spread over 1318.54 sq km, of which 520 sq km is the main area, and the remaining is buffer; the park is spread over the picturesque landscapes of Pauri Garhwal, Almora, and Nainital.

It is known that the then Viceroy of India was Lord Mayo and he was so enchanted by the beauty of Chaubatia that he ordered it to be made the center for the British Cavalry and thus was set up the Cantonment of Chaubatia.

  • Jhula Devi Temple Ranikhet One of the main attractions of Ranikhet, Jhula Devi temple is an 8th-century temple, located in Chaubatia Gardens and at a distance of 7 km. from the city centre. Situated in Kumaon Himalayan range of Uttrakhand, Jhula Devi temple is highly esteemed for devotees from around the world. The presiding deity of the temple, Lord Durga, sits on a wooden swing (Jhula), thus, it was called as ‘Jhula Devi Temple’. According to the locals, the main deity of the temple, Goddess Durga, protects them from the wild animals. People even say that after many years of its formation, the goddess continues to shower its blessings. Despite being a forest area filled with animals like leopards and tigers, the area remains accessible for the locals.

Here pilgrims from all sides get together. There are also many temples and Dharamshalas, so the pilgrims do not face any difficulty in getting accommodation for night stay. Being a historical place there are many important spots to see.

  • Near Rishikesh there is a Swarg Ashram. This Ashram had been serving the people since long. Near Swarg Ashram there is situated a very beautiful place known as Lakshman Jhula. This prayag is situated at the confluence of Bhagirthi and Alknanda rivers. From Rishikesh at a distance of 110 kilometers comes the city of Srinagar. Some pilgrims also stay at Srinagar and visit the important historical places. It is also said that Gurdwara of Srinagar possesses two copies of handwritten Guru Granth Sahib. From Srinagar the pilgrims set out for Joshi Math. Many beautiful places come in their way. There also come many prayags in the way, where confluence of rivers presents beautiful scenery.

  • Neer Garh Waterfall is a beautiful narrow stream of clear water cascading down a rocky terrain cutting through a dense green forest. Also known as 'Neer Gaddu', it has a beautiful jade-blue hue. The waterfall is two-tiered and has two bathing pools. Reaching the waterfall requires trekking for about a kilometre (a 20-minute hike that starts 2 km north of the Lakshman Jhula) through the forest and then hiking down a cliff.

  • The trail is exciting with pictorial views at every turn. Reaching the waterfall and bathing in one of its soothing pools is worth the effort of the hike. About 1.2 km ahead, one will find a bigger waterfall that has a larger pool. Butterflies of different species can be spotted here.

  • Two kilometers away from Rishikesh stands the beautiful iron suspension bridge called Ram Jhula at Muni-Ki-Reti. This significant landmark of Rishikesh was built in 1986 by PWD and is slightly bigger than Lakshman Jhula regarding length.

  • Ram Jhula connects Shivanad Ashram (towards the east bank) and Swargashram (towards the west bank). Previously it was a hanging jute ropeway, however, in 1980; a permanent iron suspension bridge was made by PWD, with the help of Shivananda Ashram. Often crowded with saints, sages and devotees, the Ram Jhula is also famed for attractions like Parmarth Niketan, Geeta Bhawan, Swargashram, Yog Niketan, Beatles Ashram, etc. Food lovers should visit the food courts located nearby the Ram Jhula.
