Uttarakhand is all set to host three-day Devalsari Titli Utsav from June 4, 2022, in Tehri Garhwal’s Devalsari. This fest is being organised to promote nature-based tourism and butterfly watching in the hill state. As per the reports, the festival will feature butterfly, bird and moth watching, butterfly photography, nature and heritage walks.
Although bird tourism has witnessed a steep rise in India, butterfly tourism is also catching pace reportedly. And there is no better place than Uttarakhand to witness such beauty, as this place also boasts of spectacular views of the Himalayas, and has almost everything that a visitor can wish for. Sitting in the lap of mountains, this spot also offers a number of wonderful adventure opportunities, one such being the butterfly festival.
Referring to this, Arun Gour of Devalsari Environment Protection and Technology Development Society - a village community-based organisation that is involved in promoting Devalsari tourism, stated that this is the third edition of Titli Utsav. He added that they have limited residential options, yet have received a number of bookings from various parts of the country and abroad, and that they are expecting hundreds of day visitors.
Gour elaborated that this festival is aimed at promoting community-oriented and nature-based tourism in the state, and that part of the revenue generated from it will go to local communities, whereas the rest will be diverted toward nature conservation. He informed that since Devalsari is rich in flora, it has led to an abundance of butterflies in the area. And, if reports are to go by, there are as many as 198 species of butterflies that have been identified in the area.
